Peter Cracknell

Manager, Vision and Blindness Technologies

Peter Cracknell is Quantum RLV's most experienced Assistive Technology consultant, across all areas including braille, print access, deafblindness, low vision, learning disabilities and dyslexia. Starting his career as the Disability Access Officer for English National Opera in 1989, Peter migrated to Australia in 1996, working for TeleSensory and Optek Systems before joining Quantum in 2002.  Peter has been an innovator in print accessibility, collaborating with all the major vision agencies and authorities, and particularly focused on better outcomes in education.  In 2018 Peter was awarded the B J Skertchly Award for Services to Optometry.

Leanne Lansdown

Service Coordinator

Leanne has had a long career in customer service, working at the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane for 20 years, and then Beaumont Tiles for 11 years before joining Quantum in 2016.  Leanne manages our Sight Support Centre at Wickham Terrace and assists with clinics at the QUT School of Optometry.  Leanne is the first point of contact for telephone and email enquiries.

Nick Powell

Low Vision Consultant

Brisbane and Northern regions

Nick began his career as an apprentice Optical Mechanic at OPSM working in their optical laboratories making lenses and spectacles. After obtaining his trade certificate, he went on to become a Dispensing Optician working with optometrists in various roles within the retail optical industry in both Queensland and the UK. Nick also gained experience in the optical wholesale sector, working for a leading global lens manufacturer as a sales representative and later as a sales manager. In addition to his work in the optical industry, Nick worked in the dental industry with medical devices including surgical microscopes. For the past 10 years, he’s worked for Quantum RLV as a low vision consultant on the Sunshine Coast and regional Queensland.

Michael Palmer

Low Vision Consultant

Brisbane and Southern regions, including Northern NSW

 Mike has an extensive background in Optometry as a qualified Dispensing Optician for 32 years. He has experience in technical optics, patient care and screening, and in educating Optical Dispensing students. The natural progression into the Low Vision and assistive technology, has given Mike the opportunity to utilise his strong optical background and understanding to find the best solutions to help his clients.
