Sydney Braille Forum Writing Competition Awards Night

Bec & Lachlan at the Braille Awards

On 15th November Quantum was delighted to participate in the annual Awards night for the Sydney Braille Writing Competition at Club Burwood RSL. It was a wonderful night with many students, their families and teachers in attendance and a fascinating talk by local author R.A.Spratt.

This awards night awards prizes for braille stories that both junior and senior students have submitted in braille. There are prizes for creativity, braille accuracy and proofreading.

There are also special prizes for students nominated by their Vision Teachers to reward their hard work and progress in braille and use of technology.  At Quantum we were excited to be able to award a JAWS Home license with a software maintenance agreement to Lachlan Evans. We thank Freedom Scientific for the donation of this license.

Two other students Isabella and Lawson were awarded 2 hours training for use of their assistive technology.

Congratulations to Lachlan, Isabella and Lawson and to Christine, Kim, Annette all the committee that put on such a wonderful event each year.
