Macula Month Reads 60 seconds could save your sight

Macula Month, an initiative of Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA) is an annual campaign, raising awareness of macular disease in the community.

Quantum RLV continues its long-standing partnership with MDFA, providing a suite of assistive technology options for those with macular disease, when glasses alone are no long enough. Quantum RLV regularly attends MDFA support group meetings where our consultants offer technology advice and tips, show the latest devices and answer product questions.

The Macular Disease Foundation offers a range of support so all Australians living with a macular condition are equipped to adjust to changes in their vision ,to live an optimal quality of life. MDFA is the largest non-government source of research funds for macular disease in Australia.

New findings for MDFA suggests that sticking closely to the Mediterranean diet is likely associated with lower risk of early AMD and delaying progression to late AMD. Similarly, an Asian-style eating pattern, defined as a high intake of vegetables, fish and plant-based proteins in the diet reduces the risk of developing late AMD and may reduce the risk of developing early AMD. Limiting alcohol consumption is also recommended s part of a healthy balanced diet.

Quantum RLV welcomes enquiry from groups, including Lions, Probus, War Widows or any other interested group who are keen for more information on assistive technology.
