Introducing Renee Lyon
“Before starting my role at Quantum, I worked as an optical dispenser in an optometry practice for a period of nine years and also did some work as a trainer for ACOD – the college that teaches the Cert 4 in Optical Dispensing. As an optical dispenser and trainer, I gained experience working with certain eye conditions and prescriptions, and dispensing glasses that best suited the client’s vision.
During this time, I graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Social Work, and about 1.5 years ago I began working at Vision Australia as the retail coordinator in the Vision Store. It was here that I gained a strong knowledge of the assistive technology available for people with low vision or blindness, and found a passion for helping people to find the right assistive technology for their needs. My role at Quantum allows me to do that, by conducting visits with clients to demonstrate the various devices that Quantum offers, as well as assisting with training and support of the device once purchased.
When I am not working – I enjoy travelling, watching movies and spending time with my family and pets!”
