Introducing Nora

The latest addition to Quantum, Nora Tantiono, talks about her passion for helping those with low vision.

“Before starting with Quantum, I was working in a retinal specialist clinic as a clinical orthoptist for 5 years. My role was to assist retinal ophthalmologists in consulting with patients, including conducting vision testing, glaucoma checks, retinal scans and photography, preparing and assisting during eye procedures as well as counseling patients regarding their eye conditions and treatments.

I also had a few years of the front office and accounts administration experience in a private hospital and a dental private practice prior to that. I graduated with a Master in Accounting and Orthoptics from University of Technology, Sydney.  I also speak Chinese and Indonesian.

As an orthoptist, I came across a lot of patients diagnosed with chronic and acute retinal conditions which caused them having to live with permanent visual impairment. I have always wondered what happened when these patients went back home and how they would cope with daily activities.

Therefore, I am delighted to join Quantum as a Low Vision Consultant, where I will be able to utilise my previous clinical experiences in order to help assess which low vision and assistive technologies devices will best help them achieve their goals. I think it’s very important to be able to visit our clients at home, school or work in order to best understand their needs. I will also be providing training and support for my clients in using their devices.

When I’m not working, I love taking road trips within Australia and overseas. I also love walking and playing with my dogs.”
