The Macular Disease Foundation Australia – Advocating for You in Canberra
At our recent OrCam event in Sydney, Julie Heraghty, CEO of the Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA) gave an inspiring address, outlining the work that the MDFA is doing representing people with vision impairment to our elected representatives in Canberra.
Julie spoke passionately about the inequality of having a cut-off age of 65 years for entry to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
In order to get the attention of politicians MDFA have researched and documented the number of people living with Macular Degeneration in the electorate of every Federal politician. This is a really great way to get their attention! If you are talking to your local representative, make sure you are armed with all the information!
